PROS
Some of my favorite features I haven't found elsewhere...
• Safety is most important to me so knowing the monitor can't be hacked and is NOT wifi connected was a must and this was perfect for that reason. Wifi connections can also be iffy and unreliable going in and out so we like that this is a no wifi, direct connection from the camera to the monitor.
• The large high quality screen shows colors and details well in daytime, very crisp and not super grainy. I use glasses but can look over and see the large screen well at night without glasses on. The night vision automatically comes on which is nice and it is very clear, and high quality as well which we appreciate!
• Being able to look all around the room without being in there is amazing! With just 1 camera, I can turn it in all directions showing the ENTIRE room which is so nice and puts your mind at ease! The zoom feature is also incredibly helpful! As our baby grows, I can check on her when she's out of the crib just playing in there to make sure she's not getting into trouble while I'm doing the dishes in the other room without worrying about it.
• Being able to dim the monitor screen brightness at night so it doesn't light up the room or disturb you while you sleep in the other room.
• The volume can go as high as you want, really high or very low and everywhere in between. It's a great feature. I'm a light sleeper so I can put it on the most quiet setting which is pretty low and still hear our baby when she fully wakes up and not be woken up when she simply turns over or stirs a little for a moment. Of course you can adjust to your preferences.
• The new temperature feature is very helpful. Although the accuracy we found to be 2 degrees above the actual temperature but now that we know that, we know the actual temp is 2 degrees less than shown on the monitor. It hasn't fluctuated more than that so we still always know the correct temperature so it wasn't a problem for us. If you create temperature alerts, just keep that in mind and check how accurate the reading is first and plan accordingly.
• The battery life works great. We don't leave it unplugged while in use for more than 6 hours at most but the battery still has juice left after all that time. We also one tap the power button to darken the screen and save the battery but still be able to hear and 1 tap it again to see what's going on in the baby's room.
• The cord to plug it in for a charge is pretty long so it can be plugged in anywhere no problem.
• Knowing the time has been very helpful but I will say there was a glitch where the whole monitor randomly shut off when updating the settings for the intital setup. It only happened once. It hasn't happened since that initial setup.
• The music songs have more variety and are songs our baby likes such as silent night. The quality sounds like an old jewelry sound box. Others may or may not like this but I found it charming and baby didn't mind, she liked it. I like being able to set music timers and keep our baby distracted while I have time to take a quick shower. Sometimes the sound echoes but it's really when you're too close to the room.
• Customer service is great and helped us replace a monitor 1 year ago with an older completely different model, it was not this one I'm reviewing. I'm saying that so you know that they will help if you have any problems and send a new one if there's really a problem with it not working. We have not had any issues with this monitor!
CONS
• One con that has bothered me is the fact that when I'm further away in the kitchen, the monitor disconnects when I go by the sink. I've learned that I have to keep the monitor in our living room or on the kitchen table. It's only 43ft away so my husband thinks it's because there are too many walls in the way. I can go outside and be further away and still hear and see her on the monitor so it must be the walls and cabinets in the kitchen? It isn't a problem since I can still hear and I only have to take a few steps to see what's going on but it can be annoying if you forget, it will beep and show on the screen to notify you that it is disconnected or having connectivity issues but you just have to bring it closer and it connects again quickly. I'm not sure if this would work for a multi-level house, maybe someone else can speak to that in another review.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and with the company's customer service. As you can see above there are several pros and really only 1 con to me. This will not be a wasted purchase. It was a beneficial purchase for us and our family for sure!
